STEM Lego Robotics Education for Years 5-6 Students

Hands on learning for inquisitive minds

Our Year 5-6 Robotics program has been designed by qualified teachers.

Students will learn to design, build, create and invent in every lesson. Students will code in Scratch, Python and Mindstorms code using our Spike Prime and EV3 robots. They will create individual solutions to a variety of specifically designed workshop activities. These challenges are created to align with your school’s current curriculum outcomes. Robokids provide all of the Lego robotics equipment necessary for your students’ success.

  • Lessons are aligned with current curriculum outcomes.
  • Robokids is viewed as a 21st Century Education provider

  • Your students will learn coding and Robotics through modules that interest and excite 11-12 year olds. Build, Code, Create!
  • We provide all the equipment- Robots, iPads, mats, challenging activities.

Years 5-6 STEM Lego Robotics Education

Robots Used Spike Prime or EV3 Mindstorms
Lesson Time 90 minutes up to 2 hours – available individually or in a series. Longer or full day workshops are possible if required.
Cost per student, per session
Lesson Overview:

The start of each lesson is teacher directed as the students need to be introduced to Lego Robotics and acquire new information. As the lesson moves along it flows to being more student centred. Once all the key information is shared, students work in pairs to solve various challenges. Students continue to test and try their solutions to solve the challenges presented. What continues to amaze us each and every day is the increased confidence students show in robotics and coding by the end of the lesson. If you select our robotics modules ( a series of lessons) you will be astounded at your students creativity, coding and problem solving ability.

We’re All About Our Little People, Learning & Having Fun!

LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education EV3

If you are looking to empower students, turning their natural curiosity into creative exploration, the EV3 robot is an instant engagement tool. The EV3 Mindstorm robots and software is a hands-on solution that ignites students’ curiosity, while enhancing their skills in science, maths, engineering, digital technology, and coding.

Students will learn to code and program through hands-on challenges specifically designed to their students year level outcomes across KLA’s. Each student will create at least 6 – 8 programs throughout our workshops using between 1- 4 of the sensors inbuilt into our EV3 fleet of robots. Students work in pairs and have 1 robot and laptop or Ipad between them. Students are provided with a list of challenges to solve, they are guided by our facilitators, the day moves quickly to a student-centred learning experience where they create their own program designs to solve the challenges posted.

Key Learning Values:

  • Investigating, modelling, and designing solutions
  • Engaging students in science and maths by making it real and relevant
  • Programming, sequential logical thought processes
  • Recognition of data, computational thinking
  • Collaboration and presentation skills

Hands on Learning for Inquisitive Minds

“The tasks engaged and challenged the students in a supportive learning environment. Visually this was very encouraging and exciting for the students. The workshops developed an appreciation and understanding of technology using problem solving and creativity skills to learn fundamental concepts and techniques to design and construct with hands-on activities.”
